A community-oriented devising project, culminating in an hour-length, social-justice oriented Purim spiel for members of the Boston Workers Circle and broader young adult Jewish community. As director and co-organizer, I lead the written devising process, facilitate discussion around thematic points of connection (ex: union organizing, digital activism) offer dramaturgical/structural feedback, collaborate with designers, contribute marketing content, and stage the final performance.

Androids, Gentlebots, and Humans: the Shtetl Metal Rebels hereby invite you to a queer, futuristic Purim spiel, complete with political intrigue, punk rock, and revolutionary imaginings. Transport yourself to Shushan Corp, where you’ll meet productivity-obsessed CEO Ash Veros, his new hot (and secret bot!!!) babe, Xster-3959876, badass droid ally Vashti, and mad scientist android Uncle Chai. Will these unconventional heroes be able to overcome the devious plotting of Haman, Shushan Corp’s new Artificial Intelligence creation, on behalf of oppressed androids everywhere? Find out on March 8th! The Purim of the future awaits!

At the invitation of the great King Ahasuerus and Queen Vashti, maidens, fools, and noblefolk from across the realm are heartily encouraged to attend this Purim’s Shushan Renaissance Faire. Merriment and sumptuous delights are anticipated by all – unless? Perchance the whispers of revolutionary dissent are true–? Verily, a tale of power, intrigue, and great suspense will surely unfold. ‘Tis an evening not to be missed!
Celebrate Purim at this year’s Ren Faire-themed Gragger! Come in your favorite costume – themed or otherwise – and enjoy the radical story that this year’s community has lovingly devised. Ren Faire workers of the world unite! Huzzah!
